This pendant is from our collection of Navajo Native American jewelry by artist Rose Ana Long, and handmade in sterling silver. It is an inlay style pendant with natural Turquoise, Lapis lazuli, and Mother of Pearl.
Navajos are pioneers of silversmithing since the 1850βs. Their jewelry is highly regarded because of its unique style and beauty. Traditionally, silver represents the main visual element and stones are considered accents for silver work. Contemporary designs enhance the stones and silver depending on the style, skill and inspiration of the artist. Decorating techniques include stamp work, beading and engraving. Natural turquoise stones and shells are traditionally used. Over the years, other natural and non-natural materials such as coral, lapis, onyx, jet and man made opals have been added to enrich the Navajo jewelry designs.
