A silver earring set from our collection of Navajo Native American jewelry. They are handmade in sterling silver with natural Spiny Oyster Shell, Turquoise, Gaspeite, Onyx, Charoite, and laboratory made Opal by Navajo artist Rick Tolino.
Navajos are pioneers of silversmithing since the 1850’s. Their jewelry is highly regarded because of its unique style and beauty. Traditionally, silver represents the main visual element and stones are considered accents for silver work. Contemporary designs enhance the stones and silver depending on the style, skill and inspiration of the artist. Decorating techniques include stamp work, beading and engraving. Natural turquoise stones and shells are traditionally used. Over the years, other natural and non-natural materials such as coral, lapis, onyx, jet and man made opals have been added to enrich the Navajo jewelry designs.
