Gorgeous, soft and unique, our scarves are handwoven by skillful Mayan weavers from a cooperative in Guatemala. This cooperative has about 170 members and has been run by the native Mayan women themselves since the 1980s.
The process begins by sorting, dyeing, washing and drying the bamboo chenille yarn. The artists then hand select the colors for the scarves. Each scarf is then handwoven using the centuries old technique of backstrap loom weaving.
You will receive a handwoven scarf made with the same yarn colors selected by the weaver and shown in the photos. The dying process of the yarn makes a one-of-a-kind scarf, yet similar looking because they are woven with the same yarn.
Our versatile scarves are warm for outdoors yet comfortable for wearing indoors as an elegant accessory. They are easily machine washable and will retain their beautiful array of colors.
